Keith A. Hansen has served our country in both military and civilian assignments, retiring as a Navy Captain and member of the Senior Executive Service. He has participated in the negotiation of several strategic nuclear arms control treaties and has served in various national security positions.  As the National Intelligence Officer for Strategic Programs and Nuclear Proliferation, he supported the treaty ratification and counter-proliferation efforts of various administrations through the production of national intelligence estimates and congressional testimonies.  More recently, he has taught international relations at Stanford University and Sierra Nevada College.   Keith is the author of The Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty: An Insider’s Perspective, Stanford University Press, 2006; coauthor of Spy Satellites and Other Intelligence Technologies that Changed History, University of Washington Press, 2007; and coauthor of Preventing Catastrophe: The Use and Misuse of Intelligence in Efforts to Halt the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction, Stanford University Press, 2009.

The Obama administration has recently negotiated an agreement with Iran.  Could the U.S. have obtained a better deal?  Keith Hansen discusses the Iranian agreement using his experience in strategic arms negotiation as a reference point.  How should we assess such an agreement?  Keith will provide informed insight.  What are the pros and cons of the Iran Nuclear Agreement?  Keith will present his list based upon the outcomes of previous nuclear arms treaties.
